MARCUS HAMILL BIO
Marcus started his career back in the 70s as a child actor.
Tragically his acting career came to a grinding halt as his second teeth came through with a horrific overbite.
He studied photography and film in the States at UNC, where his graduating film won best script and best director. In 2005 he taped over his last copy with the Tigers Grand final win. Anyone who saw the film would attest that it was a much better result.
In the years since he has made his career directing commercials with an emphasis on engaging visuals and strong performance, and only ever made one actor faint.
He has worked for many of Australia’s best clients, and in recent times, been increasingly sort after by agencies throughout Asia and Europe. Having shot over 10 brand commercials for Red Bull Air Race and X-Fighters, in places like Rome, Dublin, Madrid, Frankfurt and Budapest, he has become somewhat of a specialist in shooting action and stunts.
His work has been awarded in the London Advertising Awards and New York Festival, won Gold at the ACS, as well as featuring in the ‘the Work’, and BBC’s best ads on T.V.
In 2009 a pilot called ‘Detour’ he directed for the young pop group Panjo 5, a ‘mockumentry’ based around their misadventures on the road, was selected to screen in L.A and New York at the New York Independent Film Festival.
Following this he was asked to direct a funded short film for the Jameson Whiskey screen writing initiative.
He’s presently developing his 1st feature film.
